Thank You Posie Patchwork!

A little while ago now I was lucky enough to win Posie Patchwork’s comp where the prize was Louise Fulton Keats latest Recipe/Story Book titled ‘The Best Ever Birthday’. I had been eyeing this off for a while so was VERY excited to be a prize winner. I promised Posie that the first recipe I would make would be the Butter Cake, and it’s taken me a while (thank you to the thermostat in the Oven going) but this week I did it! I used the Basic Butter Cake Recipe to make the cake for the Muddy Puzzler’s Birthday Cake. As promised by Posie, it was delicious, just like my Grandma used to make, all moist and buttery goodness.

It was the perfect cake to use for the Butterfly chosen by my Muddy Puzzler and by the reactions they loved it!

A Huge Thank You to Posie, the book is already a big hit, we read the story all the time and the Muddy Kids have picked out what’s next to make.

Grateful for the smiles it brings

I have been following along with Maxabella Loves… 52 Weeks of Grateful for longer than I’ve been writing this blog. There is something about it that is so special, something that gives you the warm and fuzzies week after week.

So this week on it’s 2 year anniversary I am Grateful for the 52 Weeks of Grateful. A special place that helps me to take stock of what’s happening and actually take the time to remember to be grateful for what I have and what’s happening in my world. That amongst all the parental angst and ups and downs that there is always a little light, something to be very grateful for, no matter how big or small.

I am not fabulous at writing a post to link up each week, sometimes life just gets in the way, but knowing it’s there each week I still stop and think about what I’m grateful for and what I might write about if I could get it all together.

I am grateful for having this space to see what others are grateful for and what lights up their world each week, because without a doubt each and every post that I read in the link up brings a smile to my face.

I am a big believer that big changes begin with a small first step, so for me 52 Weeks of Grateful is one of those small first steps towards making more and more people grateful for what they have rather than feeling that they are continually wanting, or continually ungrateful for the wonderful things in their life that so many others would love even a tenth of. If we can all try to be a little bit grateful each week then that can spread, and spread, and spread, and I just love this concept. I am an optimist like that, I think it’s ingrained into me.

Thank You Bron for the magic that is 52 Weeks of Grateful, it is a wonderful link up, that brings a smile to my face each week and I am very grateful for it, especially on those crappy days or weeks, because it can turn them around.

Linking up with Maxabella Loves at Village Voices for 52 Weeks of Grateful on this special 2 Year Anniversary. Make sure you click over and check it out, it is sure to bring a smile to your face.

Sharing The Love

I have never been one to gracefully accept praise when it is given. I’m one of those awkward people who when given an award or some positive feedback I tend to look at my toes and mumble a ‘Thank You’ as I’m a little bit embarrassed that anyone would think me worthy as I just go about my day living life and doing what I do to get through the day. So I feel very humbled by being awarded a lovely blogging award which is awarded to bloggers by fellow bloggers for blogs with under 200 followers who inspire others (can I fit any more ‘blog’ into this sentence?).

The Fabulous Jo at Country Life Experiment has very kindly awarded me the Liebster Blog Award. Jo has a fantastic blog documenting her move to the farm from the city, Jo takes wonderful photos and shares lovely recipes and stories of her life on the farm.

There are a few rules for accepting the award:

  • Copy and paste the award on your blog
  • Link back to the blogger who gave you the award
  • Pick your five favourite bloggers with under 200 followers who deserve to be recognised
  • Hope the five chosen bloggers will continue to spread the blog award love

I have been a little  bit slack in getting onto sharing the love but here are 5 fellow bloggers who inspire me. For some I have no idea how many followers they have so apologies if they have more than 200 followers. Also no pressure, if you don’t want to participate, that’s no problem.

AnnieCookie – Katie has recently changed her blog from ‘A Sunny Home’ to Annie Cookie, she has wonderful craft ideas for kids and I LOVE the fact her blog is named after her invisible twin from when she was a child.

McCarthy Designs – Nellie is a new discovery of mine, she has fabulous taste and I love that she’s set up business in the country, only a few hours from me

Mama of 2 Boys – Julie is a fabulous read, with awesome pics, and yes I know she’s been awarded it before but I think she inspires me so much looking after two rowdy boys in a small space, that I can award it to her again!

About a Bugg – Renee writes a truly inspiring blog about herself and her family, as they raise their daughter Poss who has Asperger’s Syndrome.

Teapots and Tractors – Annaleis lives in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia and posts about her life on a farm and her beautiful kids, and a bit about craft too.

Please take some time to check out my fave reads and feel free to suggest some new ones for me.
